Boy's Linen suit

This week has zapped me of energy due to a blast of wintry, cold weather. It's been 40 degrees and raining for days; unbelievably, we even got some hail and ice one day! It's supposed to go back to sunny tomorrow so maybe that will give me some impetus to actually get something done!
I did manage to get the buttonholes and finishing done on Nate's linen suit. I picked up the fabric at JoAnn's a couple of weeks ago, and it screamed boys' suits! Now if only it would get warm enough to wear linen!
The short pants are from the ESC pattern, the buttons are black tin from Abraham's Lady. I'm actually quite proud of myself on the jacket, because it is my first attempt at pattern drafting. I drafted a pattern from an original in Godey's Ladies book. It took 3 muslin tries, but it does fit with the silhouette I wanted. Maybe someday I'll learn how to draft after all! We'll be out at the Fort this weekend, so I should have some more event pictures soon of Queen Victoria's birthday. Enjoy the sun!

Thanks ladies! It's a lot of fun to see the boys looking like little gentlemen in their suits! We might even branch out in cravats this fall...
