Crinoline brilliance

I'm still working on my hat, but in the meantime, I am totally digging this dress by the J. Peterman Company.

If I had the $$$, this dress would definitely be mine. It looks to me like a more wearable version of this Maid Marian dress from the BBC's Robin Hood that I have long been admiring:

I admit, I was not a big fan of the corset on the outside of the dress look at first, but it has grown on me. It does create an awesome silhouette, in making your waist look smaller as it goes into the larger skirt, which is of course, the same objective as mid-19th century dresses. Makes you think all fashions really do return, doesn't it :)?

I like it! Do you think that it would be easy enough to make a copy?

I love this dress! I got the J. Peterman email newsletter yesterday and this dress was in it and I loved it as soon as I saw it! Vintage Vogue had a similar 1940's pattern (don't know if it is still in print or not) that I made a few years ago. I'm tempted to pull it out and tweak it a bit to make it more like this dress. It is BEAUTIFUL!

I think there is probably some way to make this dress, but I also think it would take someone more talented than me! Sarah Jane would be a good candidate! The corset part could be tricky. Maybe you should try it Sophia so I can see the results!
