I couldn't help myself. I had some left over pima cotton fabric from Crusoe's 1850's dress shirt and so I played with the Elizabeth Stewart Clark boy's pattern and came up with this variation of a boy's tucked shirt for Nate. I'm sure that it will be dirty the second after I put it on, but really the boys dress up so rarely and it is so much fun to see them looking dapper in suits and dress shirts. We have plenty of opportunity to wear dress clothes in our reenacting pursuits and there are several event scenarios where our family could be middle-upper class, so I think one nicer outfit is appropriate for everyone in the family.The shirt has two half inch tucks on either side of the placket, and with the placket in the middle, it looks like five tucks, which tricks the eye into thinking of the more visually pleasing effect of an odd number. I did set the shirt on a waistband because it was too short for my liking, the only variation I would make if I were to sew it again would be to lengthen the bodice, hem it like an adult shirt and do away with the waistband. I can't wait to see how sweet the 2 year old looks in it! Suits really should make a comeback for men and boys of all ages :).

The shirt is just too adorable! I can't wait to see pics of it on your little guy. You've inspired me to get working on my own 2 year olds wardrobe for this season. I keep putting it off and I know I'll be rushed at the last minute if I don't get started soon.
