I've been so blessed by a husband who, while not exactly an expert on musicals, grew up in a family with a love of the arts and theatre. Being of fan of plays, he will often share my favorites with me. It is so much fun to experience musicals all over again with someone who has never seen them before! Or should I say... it is just so loverly!!(Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.)I have decided from our viewing of My Fair Lady, that I LOVE hats. They definitely need to come back into fashion. How much fun would it be to make the above confection, or my personal favorite, this delectable piece:

I'm not sure yet how this will come out in my sewing, but I am thinking something flowery, flowing and pink. I love My Fair Lady but I really love Fiddler on the Roof too! We had a topknot theatre company at a close-by college when I was growing up so we went often. My favorite was H.M.S. Pinafore, it was hilarious! I also agree about hats, I used to collect them when I was younger, I had a divine black velvet pillbox but was too timid to wear it. I feel ladylike in a hat. ;-)

I love musicals! I think historical fashions should come back into style. They are so feminine and gorgeous. I love the hats in My Fair Lady!
I love looking at hats, but I don't think I would be courageous enough to wear a big, lovely one like the ones you posted out in public. Unless I had a friend or two wearing similar hats with me. :)
